Job summary

Springfield Public Schools seeks a School Nurse (RN) to deliver direct and indirect nursing care, support student wellbeing, and promote health in the school community.

The role requires maintaining health records, coordinating with families and health agencies, and providing emergency and routine health services during the school day. DOE certification eligibility and MA RN licensure are essential.

Qualifications

• Must have a current valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Massachusetts.
• A minimum of one to two years of child health or related field; three years in school nursing preferred.
• Current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
• DOE certification eligibility currently requires a BSN.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct and indirect nursing care to enhance student wellbeing and academic success.
• Maintain health records and coordinate health resources across school, home, and community.
• Develop individual health care plans and initiate care with students and families as needed.
• Administer medications with parental/guardian and physician consent and monitor safety.
• Provide emergency care for students and staff on school premises.
