Job summary

Springfield Public Schools in Western Massachusetts seeks a School Nurse (RN) to provide direct and indirect nursing care to students, promoting wellbeing and academic success while coordinating with families, staff, and healthcare partners.

The role requires MA RN licensure and CPR certification; DOE certification eligibility (BSN preferred) is expected. You will manage health records, support health education programs, and collaborate district-wide to improve student health outcomes.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid MA RN license.
• 1–2 years of child health or school health experience; 3 years preferred.
• Current CPR certification.
• DOE certification eligibility (BSN required).

Responsibilities

• Provide direct and indirect nursing care to students to enhance wellbeing and academic success.
• Maintain and review student health records; support health programs.
• Coordinate health resources with family, school, and community providers.
• Develop individual health care plans and initiate care with students and families as needed.
• Administer medications with parent/guardian consent and physician authorization.
• Provide emergency care for students and staff on campus.
• Conduct mandated screenings (vision, hearing, scoliosis, height/weight).
• Document health information in student records per HIPAA and FERPA requirements.
