Job summary

Springfield Public Schools in Massachusetts seeks a School Nurse (RN) to provide direct and indirect nursing care, promote student health, and support learning and wellbeing. Responsibilities include case management, health record maintenance, emergency care, and coordination with families, staff, and health agencies.

Qualifications include MA RN licensure, 1–2 years in child health or related fields, CPR certification, and DOE certification eligibility (BSN preferred).

Qualifications

• Must have a current valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Massachusetts.
• A minimum of one to two years of child health, community health or other related field. Three years of responsible professional experience in school nursing or a related field preferred.
• Current certification in cardio-pulmonary resuscitation.
• Must be DOE certified or certifiable by the Department of Education in educator category, Nurse, All Levels. (DOE certification eligibility currently requires a minimum of a BSN)

Responsibilities

• Provide the optimum quality of health care to students.
• Participate in direct and indirect nursing care, health maintenance, teaching, counseling, collaborative planning and rehabilitation.
• Promote student and family education to involve them and significant others within the school system to establish and implement health goals.
• Conduct self in professional manner as evidenced by appropriate attire, punctuality and strong work ethic.
• Report and be administratively accountable to Nursing Administration and the building principal for provision of health services in the building
