Job summary

Akron Children’s Hospital is seeking a part-time School Staff Nurse to provide comprehensive health services in school settings within a 30-mile radius. The role requires a BSN, active RN licensure, and BLS certification, with 1–2 years of healthcare experience preferred.

Responsibilities include delivering clinical care for routine and emergency needs, maintaining student health records, and collaborating with parents, school staff, and department leadership.

Qualifications

• BSN required or must be obtained within 5 years of date of hire.
• BLS certification is required.
• Registered Nurse licensure is required.
• Years of relevant experience: 1 to 2 years is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides school health services as directed by department and contracts.
• Provides the clinical care necessary within the department, including routine, special needs, and emergency first aide.
• Maintains appropriate student health records and documents services rendered.
• Participates in the educational efforts of the department and the hospital.
• Communicates effectively with management, parents/guardians, school authorities, and allied personnel.
• Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care for the physical, psychological, social, educational, and safety needs of the patients served regardless of age.
• Demonstrates knowledge and compliance with departmental/school/State and Federal, and Human Resource policies, procedures and guidelines.
• Other duties as required.
