Job summary

Akron Children's Hospital is seeking a School Staff Nurse to provide comprehensive health services for students in the district. The role covers routine and emergency care, health record maintenance, and participation in hospital education initiatives.

Requirements include a BSN (or completion within 5 years), BLS certification, RN licensure, and 1–2 years of healthcare experience. Part-time, onsite position with variable daily hours.

Qualifications

• Education: BSN required or must be obtained within 5 years of hire.
• Certification: BLS certification is required; RN licensure is required.
• Years of relevant experience: 1–2 years preferred.
• Years of experience supervising: None.

Responsibilities

• Provides school health services as directed by department and contracts.
• Provides the clinical care necessary within the department, including routine, special needs, and emergency first aid.
• Maintains appropriate student health records and documents services rendered.
• Participates in the educational efforts of the department and the hospital.
• Communicates effectively with management, parents/guardians, school authorities, and allied personnel.
• Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care for the physical, psychological, social, educational, and safety needs of the patients served regardless of age.
• Demonstrates knowledge and compliance with departmental/school/State and Federal, and Human Resource policies, procedures and guidelines.
• Other duties as required.
