Job summary

Akron Children's Hospital is seeking a School Staff Nurse to provide health services to students within 30 miles of home on a PRN, on-site basis. Responsibilities include delivering clinical care (routine, special needs, and emergency first aid), maintaining student health records, and supporting the hospital's educational mission.

Qualifications include a BSN to be obtained within 5 years, active RN licensure with BLS, 1–2 years of healthcare experience, and MS Office proficiency;

Qualifications

• BSN required or must be obtained within 5 years of hire.
• BLS certification required; RN licensure required.
• 1–2 years of healthcare experience preferred.
• Experience in a school setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides school health services as directed by department and contracts.
• Provides clinical care necessary within the department, including routine, special needs, and emergency first aide.
• Maintains appropriate student health records and documents services rendered
• Participates in the educational efforts of the department and the hospital.
• Communicates effectively with management, parents/guardians, school authorities, and allied personnel.
• Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care for the physical, psychological, social, educational, and safety needs of the patients served regardless of age.
• Demonstrates knowledge and compliance with departmental/school/State and Federal, and Human Resource policies, procedures and guidelines.
• Other duties as required.
