Job summary

Akron Children’s Hospital is seeking a Part Time School Staff Nurse to provide school health services to students in our program. The position is onsite, Monday through Friday while school is in session, at 0.6 FTE.

The nurse will deliver routine and emergency first aid, maintain health records, and participate in educational efforts within the department. Requirements include BSN (or within 5 years of hire), RN licensure, BLS certification, and 1–2 years of healthcare experience; experience in

Qualifications

• BSN degree required or must be obtained within 5 years of date of hire.
• RN licensure is required and BLS certification is required.
• 1–2 years of relevant healthcare experience preferred.
• Experience in a school setting or pediatrics is preferred.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) or similar software required.

Responsibilities

• Provides school health services as directed by department and contracts.
• Provides clinical care including routine, special needs, and emergency first aid.
• Maintains appropriate student health records and documents services rendered.
• Participates in the educational efforts of the department and the hospital.
• Communicates effectively with management, parents/guardians, school authorities, and allied personnel.
• Demonstrates knowledge to provide care for physical, psychological, social, educational, and safety needs of patients.
• Demonstrates compliance with departmental/school/state and federal policies and guidelines.
• Other duties as required.
