Job summary

Akron Children’s Hospital seeks a PRN Daily Float School Staff Nurse to deliver school health services to students onsite. The role emphasizes clinical care for routine and emergency situations, documentation, and collaboration with school staff and families.

The ideal candidate holds a BSN with an active RN license and BLS certification, plus experience in pediatrics or school health settings. This position is part-time (0.56 FTE) and onsite, with varied hours across the school year.

Qualifications

• BSN required or must be obtained within 5 years of date of hire.
• BLS certification required.
• RN licensure required.

Responsibilities

• Provides school health services as directed by department and contracts.
• Provides the clinical care necessary within the department, including routine, special needs, and emergency first aide.
• Maintains appropriate student health records and documents services rendered.
• Participates in the educational efforts of the department and the hospital.
• Communicates effectively with management, parents/guardians, school authorities, and allied personnel.
• Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care for the physical, psychological, social, educational, and safety needs of the patients served regardless of age.
• Demonstrates knowledge and compliance with departmental/school/State and Federal, and Human Resource policies, procedures and guidelines.
• Other duties as required.
