Job summary

Spokane Public Schools is seeking a skilled flooring technician to install, repair, and maintain all floor surfaces across district facilities. The role supports student safety and a positive learning environment by ensuring durable, clean, and compliant flooring systems.

You will work with journeymen carpenters, read plans, and follow safety rules while performing install/remodel tasks. Hours are 8 per day, 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, with start ASAP and benefits through SEBB for eligible employees.

Qualifications

• Journeyman flooring apprenticeship or equivalent.
• Five years of similar work experience preferred.
• Skilled in installing linoleum, carpet, tile, VCT and rubber cove base.
• Ability to read plans and instructions; work with architects or supervisors.

Responsibilities

• Lay and install flooring including tile, carpet, VCT, and rubber cove base.
• Prepare surfaces, apply adhesives, pastes, and grouts.
• Repair and replace damaged flooring and related surfaces.
• Measure, cut, and fit materials; ensure safety rules are followed.
• Work with journeyman carpenters on building repairs and alterations.
