Spokane R-7 School District is seeking a Maintenance Director to lead custodial and maintenance teams. The role focuses on keeping the school facilities in optimal operating condition and safe for all users.
Strong supervisory and communication skills are essential to coordinate with the district and external contractors. As a 12-month position, the director will plan preventive maintenance, prepare cost estimates, and ensure compliance with safety rules and training manuals.
POSITION TITLE: Maintenance Director
QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or G.E.D. with 5 years experience preferred in construction or building maintenance. Practical experience in maintenance. Supervisory experience desired. Excellent communication skills. Ability to direct and coordinate. Must be team oriented, and have the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, training manuals and instructions. Must be able to follow a work schedule, but be flexible to changing daily requirements.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Twelve month position. Salary and benefits to be established by the Board of Education using the Spokane R-7 Schools Classified Salary Schedule.
JOB GOAL: To maintain the physical plant and grounds in a condition of operating excellence so that full educational use of them may be made at all times. To make the facility safe and secure for all who enter.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:Regularly walking, hearing and speaking, being able to communicate in noisy environments such as construction sites, have close moderate and distance vision ability. Must be able to lift, turn, bend, twist and carry a minimum of 60 lbs repeatedly. To be able to work overhead as well as on a ladder. The employee continuously uses hand strength to grasp and use tools and climb ladders or other equipment. The employee will frequently have to lift or move up to 90 lbs.
CONDITIONS AND ENVIRONMENT: Employee will be required to regularly work inside and outside, which may involve inclement weather including rain, snow and temperatures below freezing or in excess of 100 degrees. The employee will work near or with moving mechanical equipment. The employee may work with toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level could be occasionally loud.
