Job summary

The Northwest School in Seattle is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Technician to join our Facilities team and help keep the campus safe, welcoming, and well-functioning for students, staff, and visitors.

You will perform general maintenance, respond to work orders, assist with preventative tasks, and support school events. This role requires hands-on skills and the ability to work both independently and with a small team in a school setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in facilities, building maintenance, or related field.
• Basic experience with one or more building trades (carpentry, drywall, painting, plumbing, HVAC, or electrical) and willingness to learn.
• Ability to troubleshoot routine maintenance issues and determine when additional assistance is needed.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
• Strong communication and customer-service skills.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and meet driving requirements.

Responsibilities

• Perform general building maintenance and minor repairs (plumbing, electrical, drywall, painting, carpentry, fixtures, lighting).
• Respond to work orders and prioritize based on urgency, safety, and operations.
• Conduct campus inspections and address safety or cleanliness concerns.
• Assist with preventative maintenance and minor building improvement projects.
• Move and arrange furniture and equipment; support events by setting up/breaking down spaces.
