Job summary

Orange County Public Schools is seeking a dedicated custodian to perform a daily routine of custodial tasks ensuring a clean, safe and welcoming environment for students, staff and visitors. You will operate cleaning equipment, sanitize restrooms and kitchens, and assist with light maintenance as part of a custodial crew.

The role requires physical endurance and the ability to work independently within established procedures, with attention to safety and efficiency in a school setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred; ability to operate standard custodial equipment safely.
• IPCS screening is required for new hires; prior IPCS experience not mandatory but beneficial.
• Experience operating standard facility custodial equipment is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Responds to internal and external customers in a timely, courteous manner.
• Uses electrical cleaning equipment during assigned hours to clean facilities.
• Performs custodial tasks: emptying waste, washing windows, dusting, cleaning vents and walls.
• Sanitizes restrooms, kitchens, cafeterias and other areas as required.
• Operates and maintains custodial equipment; reports malfunctions to supervisor.
• Performs routine maintenance, e.g., changing belts, bags, and buffers pads.
• Assists in setup for meetings and conferences; performs light maintenance as needed.
• Follows safety regulations to protect students, staff and public.
