Orange County Public Schools is seeking a Custodial Training Supervisor to lead the safe and effective instruction of custodial personnel in equipment operation and cleaning procedures. The role provides guidance to administrative staff and school personnel, ensuring environmentally safe and clean facilities.
The position requires statewide certifications, a Florida driver's license, and the ability to respond to emergencies and address facility needs after hours as needed.
Under general direction, the purpose of the position is to train district custodial personnel in the safe and effective use of equipment and procedures in cleaning and sanitizing activities. Employees in this classification are responsible for providing supervisory and administrative personnel with custodial technological advances, and advisement on policies, regulations, laws and procedures governing the work. Work objective is to provide school personnel, students, and the public with an environmentally safe, attractive, comfortable, clean, and efficient place in which to work and conduct school activities. Position is subject to on-call responsibilities for address emergencies and/or critical conditions that would prevent a school from opening. Will be required to obtain and maintain a valid driver's license and maybe required to use personal vehicle in the execution of duties. Performs related work as directed.
High school diploma or GED; supplemented by Master Custodian and Custodian Instructor Certifications through the State Department of Education, 6/A2 Inspector Certification, and Certified Trainer in Propane Powered Floor Equipment; supplemented by three (3) years supervisory custodial work experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Florida driver's license. Maybe required to use personal vehicle in the execution of duties.
Requires the ability to evaluate, audit, deduce, and/or assess data and/or information using established criteria. Includes exercise of discretion in determining actual or probable consequences, and in referencing such evaluation to identify and select alternatives.

Requires the ability to operate, maneuver and/or control the actions of electrically powered custodial equipment, and hand-held supplies and cleaning tools. Maybe required to use personal vehicle.
Requires the ability to utilize a wide variety of reference, descriptive, design, and advisory data and information.
Requires the ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication and division; calculate decimals and percentages.
Requires the ability to apply principles of influence systems, such as motivation, incentive, and leadership. Ability to exercise independent judgment to apply facts and principles for developing approaches and techniques to problem resolution.
Requires the ability to exercise the judgment, decisiveness and creativity required in situations involving the evaluation of information against sensory, judgmental, or subjective criteria, as opposed to that which is clearly measurable or verifiable.
Some tasks involve the ability to exert heavy physical effort in heavy work, with greater emphasis on climbing and balancing, but typically also involving some combination of stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling, and the lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials (20-50 pounds); may occasionally involve heavier objects and materials (up to 100 pounds).

Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate depths. Some tasks require oral communications ability. Most tasks require visual perception and discrimination.
Tasks are performed with potential exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as strong odors, fumes, dusts, wetness, humidity, machinery, vibrations, temperature and noise extremes, disease, pathogenic substances, and toxic/poisonous agents.
