Job summary

Virginia Beach City Public Schools is seeking a custodial staff member to maintain cleanliness of school buildings and grounds. Training on cleaning tools, equipment and safety will be provided. The role covers classrooms, cafeteria, bathrooms, halls and event setups.

Candidates should have a GED or be completing high school; a high school diploma is preferred. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work varied shifts will be needed.

Qualifications

• GED or some high school required; high school diploma preferred.
• Basic knowledge of cleaning methods, materials and equipment.
• Ability to read and understand simple directions in English.

Responsibilities

• Clean cafeteria and classrooms; mop, dust and set up rooms.
• Pick up trash and clean bathrooms, halls and stairs daily.
• Secure doors and maintain classroom safety at end of day.
• Assist with setup for events and activities in multiple spaces.
• Perform related custodial tasks as needed.
