Job summary

Montgomery County Educational Service Center is seeking a Custodian to perform general cleaning and maintenance in school buildings and grounds under supervision. The role includes cleaning rooms, floors, restrooms, setup for meetings, and assisting with deliveries and recycling programs to maintain a safe, welcoming environment.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent, experience in building maintenance is desirable, and be able to operate basic cleaning equipment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or completion of sufficient education to successfully perform the duties of the position.
• Previous experience in building and cleaning maintenance desirable.
• [State] Motor Vehicle Operator's license or ability to provide own transportation.

Responsibilities

• Check and secure the building at the start and end of shift for safety and cleanliness.
• Clean rooms, hallways, cafeterias, restrooms, offices, stairways, and other areas to district standards.
• Sweep, mop, buff, strip, and wax floors.
• Maintain rugs, carpets, and blinds; wash walls, ceilings, woodwork, windows, doors, and sills.
• Remove graffiti and clean glass areas; replace light bulbs.
• Set up and break down chairs/tables for meetings and events.
• Clear snow from entrances and spread sand/ice melting chemicals.
• Perform grounds-keeping duties and assist in recycling program.
• Receive deliveries and assist in unloading and storing supplies.
• Deliver supplies to classrooms and other areas; empty wastebaskets and manage trash.
