Job summary

Montgomery Public Schools is seeking a Custodian to maintain a safe, clean school environment. The position aligns with the 202-day and 245-day work periods, requiring adherence to school policies and state regulations.

Essential duties include cleaning, HVAC regulation, safety checks, and minor repairs, with supervision by the Principal, Director of Facilities, and Coordinators of Facilities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must meet suitability criteria under Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No. 2002-457.

Responsibilities

• Keeps building, sidewalks, driveways and play areas clean.
• Regulates HVAC to balance comfort and energy use.
• Checks exit doors and panic bolts during occupancy.
• Sweeps/vacuums classrooms; dusts furniture daily.
• Scrubs and disinfects toilet floors; cleans fixtures daily.
• Cleans corridors after school and as needed during the day.
• Washes windows inside/outside at least annually.
• Repairs minor issues and reports major needs promptly.
• Remains on site during work hours and authorized times.
• Assists with opening/closing; ensures doors/windows are secured.
