Job summary

Dickinson-Iron Intermediate School District in Kingsford, Michigan seeks a Staff Accountant for full-time, year-round work. Starting salary at or above $51,500 based on experience, with full benefits including dental and vision, located at the DIISD Consortium Building.

Position reports to the Director of Finance; 260 days/12 months at 37.5 hours per week. Requires 3+ years in school finance or accounting and a BS in accounting or related field, plus MSBO certification or ability to obtain.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Minimum of three years of school finance or accounting experience.
• Proficiency in eFinance, QuickBooks, SAP, or Oracle Financials.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Knowledge of federal, state, and local school finance regulations.
• Familiarity with grant management and reporting processes.
• Confidentiality and integrity in handling financial information.
• Proficient in office procedures and standard software.
• High proficiency in spreadsheet and word processing.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• MSBO certification or ability to obtain.
• Driving may be necessary with a valid driver’s license.
• Ability to work under pressure and multi-task.

Responsibilities

• Maintain financial records including accounts payable, accounts receivable, GL entries, and payroll records.
• Monitor budgets and ensure budgetary compliance throughout the year.
• Prepare financial statements, reports and analyses for internal/external stakeholders.
• Balance all financial and accounting reports at month end.
• Collaborate with auditors to facilitate audits and ensure compliance.
• Assist and supervise vendor relationships, process invoices, reconcile statements.
• Assist Director of Finance with financial analysis to support decisions.
• Utilize accounting software and financial tools to streamline processes.
• Provide training and support to staff on financial procedures.
• Maintain confidential files and LEA/BSC records.
• Support purchasing, invoicing, and grant fund requests as directed.
