Job summary

BARRINGTON COMMUNITY UNIT SCHOOL DISTRICT 220 in Barrington, IL is seeking a Payroll Coordinator to manage district payroll operations. The role includes semi-monthly payroll processing, tax reporting, and benefits administration within a District 220 framework.

Reports to the Director of Fiscal Services & Asset Management. Experience with Skyward and Google Suite is a plus. Competitive benefits; exempt from overtime.

Qualifications

• College degree preferred; appropriate experience considered.
• Two-year payroll experience in a school district.
• Knowledge of payroll accounting procedures.
• Familiarity with relevant payroll laws and regulations.
• Ability to handle confidential information and complex records.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Calculate semi-monthly payroll and deductions for district staff.
• Reconcile payroll data and distribute payroll checks/reports.
• Identify and resolve payroll anomalies and communicate with stakeholders.
• Serve as electronic timekeeping administrator and train staff.
• Coordinate salary adjustments with HR and prepare related memos.
• Support district 403(b)/457 programs with annual updates.
• Process federal/state payroll taxes and quarterly 941 reports.
• Prepare W-2s and annual TRS reporting; ensure accuracy.
• Maintain onboarding/offboarding records and ensure security access.
• Collaborate with Payroll Specialist to ensure timely cross-checks.
