Job summary

Virginia Beach City Public Schools is seeking a dedicated custodian to perform routine cleaning and maintenance across school buildings and grounds. The role includes training in cleaning tools, equipment, and safety protocols to ensure a clean and safe learning environment.

Responsibilities span cafeteria cleaning, classroom upkeep, trash removal, and setup for events, with daily duties ensuring classrooms are prepared for the next day.

Qualifications

• GED or some high school is required.
• High School Diploma preferred; custodial experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Clean cafeteria after lunch, mop cafeteria, realign chairs.
• Clean classrooms: dust, wipe chalkboards, sweep floors.
• Lock up buildings and secure doors at end of day.
• Assist with setup for PTA, special events, and meetings.
• Vacuum floors, shampoo carpets, wash walls, and clean restrooms.
