Job summary

Virginia Beach City Public Schools is seeking a Custodian to maintain cleanliness of school buildings and grounds. Training on cleaning tools, equipment, and safety provided. Position involves routine tasks across classrooms, cafeterias, and common areas with event setup responsibilities.

Required GED or some high school; preferred high school diploma and custodial experience. Must perform physical duties and regular attendance; health benefits are included per district policy.

Qualifications

• GED or some high school required.
• High School Diploma preferred; some custodial experience beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Clean cafeteria after each lunch, mop cafeteria, realign chairs.
• Pick up paper and trash in bathrooms and hallways, clean spills.
• Pick up paper and trash around school and grounds.
• Dump trash in classrooms, clean chalkboards, sweep and dust classrooms; set up for next day.
• Wash desks, move classroom furniture as needed, including stairs.
• Set up for PTA, events, and meetings in cafeteria/auditorium/library and reset after.
