Job summary

Virginia Beach City Public Schools is seeking a Custodian to maintain cleanliness in school buildings and surrounding grounds. You will receive classroom and hands-on training in cleaning tools, equipment, and safety practices to perform custodial tasks effectively.

Essential duties include cleaning cafeterias, classrooms, restrooms, and common areas, assisting with setup for events, and ensuring security of facilities at day end.

Qualifications

• GED or some high school is required.
• High School Diploma preferred.
• Some custodial experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Clean the cafeteria after lunch, wipe tables and arrange chairs.
• Pick up paper and trash in bathrooms and hallways; clean spills.
• Clean classrooms and school grounds; dust and mop floors.
• Set up spaces for PTA, events, and meetings.
• Vacuum floors, shampoo carpets, wash walls and windows.
• Secure and lock classrooms and doors at the end of the day.
• Perform related custodial tasks as needed.
