Job summary

Stanly County Schools SCS Maintenance is seeking a Custodian (Substitute) in Albemarle, NC. The role involves general custodial work, light groundskeeping, and facility upkeep under supervision.

Starting pay is $15.00 per hour, with duties including floor care, restroom upkeep, waste removal, and basic repairs. The position requires a valid North Carolina driver’s license, ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and capability to perform medium‑demand physical tasks.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid North Carolina driver’s license.
• Must be physically able to operate vacuum cleaners, carpet shampooers, brooms, mops and related janitorial equipment.
• Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds and exert up to 100 pounds occasionally.
• Requires climbing, stooping, reaching, standing, walking, and repetitive motions.
• Physical work is medium level; must follow safety guidelines and work under supervision.

Responsibilities

• Sweep, mop, vacuum and scrub floors in classrooms, hallways and facilities.
• Clean restrooms, replenish supplies and maintain hygiene standards.
• Wash walls, windows and fixtures; polish surfaces as needed.
• Report damages or repairs to supervisor and coordinate light maintenance tasks.
• Unload and store supplies; assist with light facility upkeep and safety checks.
