Job summary

Millingport Elementary School in Albemarle, North Carolina seeks a part-time custodian to maintain cleanliness and safety in classrooms, hallways and common areas. The role includes sweeping, mopping, dusting, restroom upkeep, light maintenance and basic repairs.

You must have a high school diploma and a valid North Carolina driver’s license; prior cleaning experience is preferred. The schedule runs weekdays from 1:30 PM to 5:30 PM with partial benefits.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid North Carolina driver’s license.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Physically able to operate vacuum cleaners, carpet shampooers, brooms, mops, leaf blowers, etc.
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds and exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally.
• Able to coordinate hands and eyes for janitorial equipment use.

Responsibilities

• Scrubs, dusts, sweeps, mops, vacuums, waxes and polishes floors in rooms, hallways and closets.
• Washes windows, woodwork, walls and other surfaces.
• Scrubs and cleans restroom fixtures.
• Replenishes tissue, towels, and soap in restrooms, kitchens and classroom facilities.
• Replaces light bulbs and fluorescent tubes.
• Empties wastebaskets and other refuse receptacles.
• Locks and unlocks doors.
• Sorts and stores material for recycling programs.
• Makes minor repairs to furniture or facilities and reports needed outside repairs.
• Turns heating and air conditioning equipment on and off.
• Performs routine maintenance on HVAC systems.
• Unload and store supplies and deliveries.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
