Job summary

Mastery Schools in New Jersey seeks an Assistant Principal of School Culture (APSC) to lead a positive, achievement-oriented environment across campuses. You will coach staff, oversee culture initiatives, and engage families to strengthen student success and belonging.

You will implement restorative practices, coordinate a culture team, and ensure alignment between culture and academics, while providing PD and crisis-prevention training.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in social work, counseling, education, or a related field preferred.
• Urban school experience desirable.
• Leadership or youth development background is valued.

Responsibilities

• Implement Mastery’s school culture model to foster a safe, inclusive, and achievement-focused environment.
• Lead a culture team to drive attendance, student behavior, and school climate.
• Oversee systems for positive reinforcement, accountability, and student discipline.
• Manage restorative justice approaches in discipline.
• Plan extracurricular programs and school events to promote student engagement.
• Strengthen parent and community relationships.
• Coach teachers on classroom management and school-wide behavior.
• Provide professional development to support a positive learning environment.
• Collaborate with instructional leaders to align culture with academics.
• Lead school-wide crisis prevention and de-escalation training.
• Perform other duties to support operations and achievement.
