Sunset Elementary in Airway Heights, WA is hiring a Kitchen Assistant/Cashier to join the Nutrition Services team. The role includes preparing produce, cashiering meals, and maintaining meal counts under USDA guidelines; work hours are 6:00 a.m.

to 2:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, 182 days. Pay ranges from $18.94 to $23.81 per hour, with degree stipends and benefits such as medical, dental, vision, and retirement options.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent and related work experience.
• Must hold a current and valid food handler’s permit; Washington driver’s license required.
• Ability to use grammar, spelling and language in communication; basic math skills.
• ServeSafe certification and American Culinary Federation membership preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare produce, salad bar and condiments; complete dishes in a high production kitchen.
• Cashier meals and maintain meal counts per USDA regulations.
• Operate kitchen equipment and provide quality meals to students and staff.
• Maintain sanitation and proper HACCP records; ensure food safety standards.
• Assist with inventory, ordering supplies, and front-of-house coordination.
