Job summary

Cheney Public Schools in Sunset Elementary (Airway Heights, WA) seeks a Kitchen Assistant/Cashier to support daily meal preparation and cashier duties in a high production kitchen. This 8-hour/day, 182-day position starts immediately and includes front-of-house cash handling and USDA meal counts.

The role requires a high school diploma, a current food handler’s permit, and a WA driver’s license; ServeSafe and AF Federation membership are preferred.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent and related work experience.
• Must hold a current and valid food handler’s permit.
• Must have and maintain a valid Washington State Driver’s License.
• Ability to use proper grammar, spelling, and language in both oral and written communication, as well as basic math skills.
• Membership in American Culinary Federation is preferred.
• ServeSafe certification is preferred.
• Previous cashier experience at point of sale preferred.

Responsibilities

• Cashier meals and obtain meal counts per USDA regulations.
• Prepare produce, salad bar, condiments and complete dishes in a high production kitchen.
• Operate kitchen equipment and provide quality meals to Cheney School District students and staff.
• Maintain sanitation and proper food handling per HACCP guidelines.
• Record daily reports and manage student accounts as required.
• Work as a team within the kitchen and assist with supplies for FOH services.
