Job summary

Legacy Early College seeks a Bus Assistant to support student safety during transportation to and from school and at events. You will work closely with the Bus Driver to maintain a secure, orderly environment and assist scholars with boarding, exiting, and accommodations as needed.

The role requires strong communication, de-escalation, and physical capability to support students with special needs while following all school policies. Position is part-time with bus-route flexibility.

Qualifications

• Experience working with K–12 students in school, childcare, youth programs, or bus monitor settings.
• Current CPR and First Aid certification or willingness to obtain on hire.
• Experience or training in managing student behavior and applying positive reinforcement.
• Strong interpersonal and de-escalation skills for working with drivers, administrators, students, and parents.
• Ability to lift and assist students and secure wheelchairs or adaptive safety equipment.

Responsibilities

• Maintain safety and behavior of scholars at all times (eyes on the kids).
• Assist with boarding/exiting and support with evacuations during emergencies.
• Document damages or unsafe conditions and report to driver/supervisor.
• Enforce school and bus policies consistently.
• Do not let scholars off the bus without an older sibling or parent when needed.
• Attend transportation meetings and be ready to ride different buses as needed.
