Job summary

North-America-Central-School-Bus is seeking a Bus Assistant to support the driver in safe route operation and to manage students as defined by the school. You will learn and follow route sheets or routing devices, assist with loading/unloading, and help with pre/post-trip inspections and wheelchair lifts.

The role requires good verbal communication, ability to work early mornings, and a professional, respectful attitude toward employees and customers.

Responsibilities

• Assist driver in safe operation of route and manage students as identified by school.
• Learn and follow a route sheet or electronic routing device.
• Communicate behavior problems to the driver.
• Assist in pre-trip and post-trip inspections, including child checks and wheelchair lifts.
• Assist students in loading and unloading, including wheelchair lift.
• Cooperate with school personnel, parents and students; attend safety and training meetings.
• Conduct emergency evacuations from the bus, including using the emergency door.
• Clean the interior of the bus (sweep, dust, windows).
• Perform other duties as required by contract.
