Job summary

First Student is hiring a Diesel Technician in Danbury, CT to maintain and repair school buses and keep the fleet safe and ready for service. You will use your mechanical and diagnostic skills to identify issues, perform repairs, and support daily operations for the Danbury fleet.

Qualifications

• At least one year of automotive, diesel, electric, or CNG vehicle maintenance experience.
• Valid driver's license.
• Willing and able to obtain a CDL with company-paid training.
• Have a mechanic's tool set.
• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
• Comfortable using computers to complete work orders and access maintenance information.
• Interest in expanding ASE training and certification.
• Pride in performing safe, accurate, and dependable work.

Responsibilities

• Performing preventive maintenance and safety inspections.
• Diagnosing and repairing diesel and automotive systems.
• Maintaining and repairing brakes, suspensions, drivetrains, transmissions, and related components.
• Completing work orders accurately and documenting repairs.
• Ensuring vehicles meet company and regulatory safety standards.
• Assisting with mobile emergency repairs when needed.
• Working closely with maintenance and operations teams to keep the fleet available for service.
