Job summary

Santee School District SPECIAL EDUCATION in Santee, California is seeking a Speech Language Pathology Assistant to support certificated SLPs in developing pre-language and language skills, oral-motor control, and augmentative communication.

Responsibilities include assisting in assessments, providing language development instruction, adapting materials, and following IEPs. 9-month, 6.5-hour days, 7:30am–2:30pm; salary $27.38/hr, full-time.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required; CPR/First Aid required; SLP Assistant Certificate required.
• Knowledge of speech/language pathology equipment, materials and procedures.
• Familiarity with IEP processes and confidentiality requirements.

Responsibilities

• Assist Speech-Language Pathologists during assessments and maintain confidentiality.
• Provide language development instruction to individuals or small groups.
• Adapt instructional materials to student needs and modify equipment as needed.
• Conduct speech-language screenings using district protocols.
• Follow treatment plans and IEPs to guide daily activities.
• Maintain student records, data, charts and reports.
• Prepare teaching materials and instructional aids.
• Monitor student behavior and report concerns to staff.
• Assist students with augmentative and alternative communication devices.
• Attend meetings and trainings to stay current in the field.
• Perform related duties as assigned.
