Job summary

Odyssey Academy - Support Center in Texas City, TX is seeking a Speech Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA) to support licensed SLPs in delivering services to students with speech and language needs.

Under supervision, the SLPA will implement IEP goals, prepare materials, maintain progress records, and collaborate with teachers, parents, and staff. Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Communication Disorders and Texas ASHA/LLR registrations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Communication Disorders required.
• Current registration as an SLPA with the Texas Department of Licensing & Regulation and ASHA at appointment and maintain registration.
• Minimum 25 hours of clinical observation in speech-language pathology.
• Minimum 25 hours of clinical assisting experience in speech-language pathology from a Board-approved program.

Responsibilities

• Assist speech and language therapist with implementation of IEP goals.
• Communicate effectively in oral and written form.
• Manage and use time effectively.
• Demonstrate appropriate conduct with students and staff.
• Prepare and present materials to support therapy objectives.
• Maintain student progress documentation.
• Interact with parents, students, supervisors, and school staff.
• Differentiate lessons to meet student needs with guidance from SLP.
• Consult with Supervisor when progress is not consistent.
• Coordinate carry over activities with classroom teacher and home.
