Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in speech-language pathology from an accredited college or university.
  • Valid Texas license as a speech-language pathologist granted by the State Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology (SBESLPA) or Bachelor’s degree and valid Texas Education Agency speech therapy certificate.
  • Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct evaluations to assess speech or language disorders and provide therapy.
  • Develop clinical management strategies or procedures and diagnostic statements.
  • Participate in ARD committees to interpret data and set goals for students with communication disorders.
  • Collaborate with teachers to plan classroom activities to improve communication.
  • Provide professional development in assigned schools to help staff work with students with communication deficits.
  • Create a conducive learning environment and administer discipline per policies.
