Job summary

Boston Public Schools’ Tynan Elementary is seeking an exceptional Coordinator of Special Education (COSE) to lead school-based SPED programs and ensure high-quality instruction within compliance frameworks. The COSE will work closely with the Principal and the Office of Special Education to support students with disabilities and promote equitable access to learning.

The role emphasizes collaboration with families, professional development for SPED staff, and coordinating services across settings

Qualifications

• Qualified special education leader with knowledge of IEP, FAPE and LRE.
• Experience collaborating with families, staff and administration.
• Strong understanding of SPED program development and service delivery.

Responsibilities

• Support the improvement of student outcomes and strengthen family engagement.
• Collaborate with the Principal/Head of School to provide an inclusive environment for all students.
• Ensure students with disabilities participate in general education with peers per the IEP.
• Coordinate services and continuum of settings for students with disabilities.
• Serve as liaison with outside agencies providing services in the schools.
• Provide professional development and support for special education staff.
