Job summary

Boston Public Schools seeks a Coordinator of Special Education (COSE) to lead and coordinate services for students with disabilities, ensuring FAPE and LRE in alignment with IEPs and 504 plans. The COSE will work closely with the Principal and OSS to provide support and professional development for special education staff, while engaging families as partners.

The role requires strong knowledge of DESE regulations, IDEA, and Section 504, plus 3+ years of urban experience.

Qualifications

  • Massachusetts Teaching License in Special Education (Moderate/Severe) is required.
  • Knowledge of DESE Regulations, IDEA, and Section 504.
  • Experience with IEP development and procedures.
  • Ability to collaborate with families, students, and professionals.
  • Minimum three years of urban school experience.

Responsibilities

  • Support student outcomes and family engagement.
  • Collaborate with Principal and OSS to ensure inclusive education and PD for staff.
  • Coordinate services across settings for students with disabilities and at-risk students.
  • Serve as liaison with outside agencies and coordinate IEPs and 504 plans.
  • Lead annual reviews, chair placement meetings, and monitor compliance with regulations.
  • Provide guidance on Code of Conduct implementation for students with disabilities.
