Job summary

Burrell Behavioral Health is seeking a School Based Navigator in Independence, MO. You will connect students and families with behavioral health services, guide Medicaid and insurance steps, and coordinate intake with school-based therapists.

Qualifications

• Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication abilities.
• Ability to document accurately and maintain records.
• Experience coordinating services for students and families.

Responsibilities

• Connect students and families with behavioral health services by accepting referrals from assigned schools, initiating family contact, and responding within three business days.
• Guide families through Medicaid eligibility screening and application, verify private insurance benefits, and explore funding options when needed.
• Coordinate intake appointments with school-based therapists and connect students not eligible for services with appropriate access points.
• Partner with schools and community agencies to link families with resources, including crisis services when indicated.
• Promote continuity of care by insurance checks and paperwork updates to maintain eligibility.
• Manage intake and compliance documentation, ensuring records are complete and filed electronically.
• Collaborate with Billing, HIM, Quality, and other teams to complete regulatory tasks within timelines.
• Support team members by answering calls, logging non-billable calls, and maintaining clinical records.
• Protect student and family information per privacy, confidentiality, and ethics requirements.
• Contribute to program quality by following guidelines and CARF-aligned standards.
• Participate in required training, meetings, and ongoing professional development.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
