Job summary

Washington County Mental Health Services (WCMHS) is seeking a School Based Behavioral Interventionist to support students with behavioral and emotional challenges in school, community, and a summer program. You will implement individualized plans and provide direct supervision and therapeutic support under supervision of clinical teams.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Preferred post-secondary education in human services, education, psychology, social work, or related field.
  • Ongoing training in behavioral intervention, trauma-informed care, and related practices is provided and expected.
  • Demonstrated experience providing direct supports or therapeutic services to children with challenging behaviors is preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license, safe driving record, and access to a vehicle.

Responsibilities

  • Implement individualized behavioral support plans in collaboration with school staff and clinical teams.
  • Provide direct supervision and therapeutic support to students with challenging behaviors in school, community, and summer program settings.
  • Support students in developing social, emotional, and coping skills that increase engagement and success in learning environments.
  • Maintain clear, timely communication with parents, educators, and internal WCMHS staff.
  • Participate as an active member of interdisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated, trauma-informed care.
  • Assist with crisis prevention and intervention, including safe restraint techniques when required.
  • Transport students as needed to support programming and services.
