Job summary

Harford County Public Schools seeks a Behavioral Technician at Deerfield Elementary School to assist staff with instructional programs and support student needs. The role is ten months, full-time, with a starting salary of $34,162 and a potential to $56,358.

Required education includes a high school diploma; AA or 60 college credits with psychology/sociology coursework, or acceptable alternatives. CPI training and crisis-intervention readiness are expected.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• AA degree or 60 college credits; psychology/sociology coursework preferred; or alternative qualifications listed.
• ParaPro Assessment requirement or equivalent college credits.
• 1.5 years of related work with students with special needs or aggressive behaviors.
• Completion of Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) components required or willing to complete.

Responsibilities

• Monitors student behavior and implements behavior strategies.
• Responds to behavioral crises per crisis management procedures.
• De-escalates situations using approved techniques with guidance from staff.
• Supports behavior components of IEPs under supervision.
• Document progress through Behavior Intervention Plan data collections.
• Builds positive relationships with students and colleagues.
• Participates in professional development as assigned.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
