Qualifications

• Six (6) months of work experience as an apprentice or helper in a kitchen where the applicant has basic baking skills.
• One (1) year of work experience as a baker in a restaurant, hotel, hospital, school, or institution with hands‑on quantity baking experience.
• Substitutions allowed include an associate's degree in a food service/culinary arts program with quantity baking training.
• Excess specialized experience may substitute for general experience on a month-for-month basis.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates with other food service staff to bake goods to meet meal service times and satellite deliveries.
• Review production records and adjust recipes; secure ingredients and equipment.
• Accurately weigh and mix ingredients per standardized recipes and calculate servings and bread equivalents.
• Prepare mixes and bake bread, rolls, buns, biscuits, muffins, and other baked goods.
• Set up serving counters, serve meals, and replenish items as needed.
• Directs cafeteria helpers and may supervise satellite school operations.
