Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or equivalent.
• Six months of general kitchen experience in baking-related tasks.
• One year of specialized bread baking experience in a school, restaurant, hotel, or institution.
• Substitutions allowed: associate degree in food service/culinary arts or related curriculum.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates and works closely with other food service employees to bake goods in time for meal service and satellite deliveries.
• Reviews production records and secures ingredients and equipment for baking needs.
• Accurately weighs, measures, and mixes ingredients; adjusts recipes for production needs and bread equivalents.
• Prepares mixes and bakes bread, rolls, buns, biscuits, muffins, pizza crusts, and other baked items.
• Sets up serving counters and serves students and staff; replenishes items as needed.
• Portions and packs menu items for satellite meals; maintains clean work areas and utensils.
• Labels, stores, and disposes leftovers; informs manager of leftovers; assists inventory and records.
• Receives provisions, documents temperatures, and reports discrepancies; stores goods properly.
• Directs cafeteria helpers; assists in training and may supervise satellite operations.
• Attends staff meetings and training; meets annual USDA training hours.
