Job summary

Gingerbread Littleversity in Fuquay-Varina, NC is seeking a School Age Teacher to support our K-5 classrooms. The role includes supervising children, transporting them by van when needed, and implementing weekly lesson plans aligned with monthly themes and SACERS expectations.

Qualified candidates have a bachelor's or associate degree in early childhood or elementary education (or 12 credits in those fields), or are enrolled in a related bachelor's program. Background checks are required.

Gingerbread Littleversity is a licensed childcare center seeking a School Age Teacher to support our K-5 classrooms!

To be QUALIFIED for the Teacher role, we require a completed bachelor's or associate's degree in early childhood or elementary education OR a completed bachelor's degree or an associate's degree with 12 credits of early/elementary childhood educationcredits or their equivalentOR an individual who is currently enrolledin a bachelorsdegree program in early/elementarychildhood education. We can consider applicants who have their early childhood credentialsand experience. The ability to pass all background checks is also required.

Required Shift:

Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm

Please note the School Age Teacher will be required to drive the passenger van. Applicants must also be 21+ years of age.

Compensation:

$15 - $18 per hour, based on education and experience

Our Hiring Process:

Main Job Responsibilities:

• Responsible for the supervision of school age children and meeting the daily physical, emotional and social needs of the children in their care.
• Responsible for driving children to and from school and occasionally for classroom field trips.
• Arrange Lesson Plans and curriculum on a weekly basis in coordination with the monthly theme and that meet the developmental needs of the children and that meet the expectations of SACERS (School Age Care Environmental Rating Scales).
• Responsible for establishing a professional level of communication with each family member to provide quality care for each child. On-going communication in all aspects relating to the children in their room with the parents and the Center Director is crucial for quality care.
• Physical ability to work around small children including sitting, standing, walking, running, and climbing stairs.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs. and fulfill all physical requirements of the role.
• Carry out the daily responsibilities of the classroom relating to the care of the children.
