School-Age Program Lead: Assistant Site Director

Job summary

The YMCA of the North in Minnesota is seeking an Assistant Site Director for the School Age Childcare program to support daily program operations, supervise staff, and deliver engaging experiences for children ages 5–12.

This role works closely with the Site Director and serves as the primary on-site leader in their absence, with opportunities to grow leadership experience while making a positive impact for children and families.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old per state licensing.
• At least 1 year of experience with school-age children or youth programs.
• Ability to pass Minnesota or Wisconsin background checks.
• CPR/AED and First Aid certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
• Knowledge of child development and positive relationship-building practices.
• Strong communication, organizational, problem-solving and interpersonal skills.
• Experience working with diverse backgrounds and learning needs.

Responsibilities

• Assist Site Director with planning, supervision, and implementation of program operations.
• Oversee before/after-school, summer, holiday care, and school release days.
• Serve as point of contact for parents and manage daily sign-in/sign-out procedures.
• Coordinate with school partners and community organizations as needed.
• Develop age-appropriate curriculum and activities including STEAM and recreation.
• Mentor and supervise site educators and manage staffing coverage.
• Support billing, attendance tracking, registration, and records management.
• Ensure licensing compliance and CACFP and state regulations.
