Job summary

The YMCA of the North is seeking an Assistant Site Director for its School Age Childcare program in Burnsville, MN. This role supports daily operations, leads a team, and ensures high-quality experiences for children ages 5–12, reporting to the Site Director and serving as on-site leader in their absence.

Scheduled hours range from early morning to early evening (6:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m.), with a starting pay of $19.00 per hour.

Qualifications

• Minimum age 18 as required by licensing and regulatory rules.
• At least 1 year of experience working with school-age children, youth programs, or licensed childcare settings.
• Background checks including fingerprinting with clearance prior to start date.
• CPR/AED and First Aid certification, or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
• Knowledge of child development, behavior guidance, and positive relationship-building practices.
• Commitment to creating a safe, engaging, inclusive recreation environment.
• Strong communication, organizational, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Site Director with planning, supervision, and implementation of program operations and activities.
• Oversee daily operations for before-/after-school, summer, holiday care, and school release days.
• Serve as a point of contact for parents; manage daily sign-in/sign-out procedures.
• Coordinate with school partners, community organizations, and other stakeholders.
• Develop and implement age-appropriate curriculum including STEAM, recreation, and leadership activities.
• Provide guidance, coaching, and mentoring to site educators; assist with onboarding and scheduling.
• Assist with billing, attendance tracking, registration, and maintaining participant and staff records.
• Support licensing compliance and safety procedures, including drills and health/safety rules.
