Healthy Kids Programs is hiring a School-Age Childcare Assistant for the Before and After School Programs at Frelinghuysen Elementary School for the 2026-2027 school year.

This part-time, non-exempt role offers employer-paid childcare and a flexible schedule that follows the school calendar, with morning and/or afternoon shifts available. The program serves children ages 5-12 and emphasizes safety, engagement, and staff mentorship.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required or equivalent.
• Ability to pass state background checks.
• Physical ability to bend, stretch, lift up to 50 pounds.
• Positive, professional demeanor with strong interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate hands-on activities following the Healthy Kids Curriculum (fitness, STEAM, arts, academics, homework).
• Provide a safe, healthy, and fun environment; serve as a positive role model.
• Observe state guidelines and host school policies; may perform attendance, registration, and staffing tasks.

Position Responsibilities

The Before and After School Program team is responsible for:

• Facilitating hands-on activities following the Healthy Kids Curriculum which includes fitness, STEAM, academic, art, and other group activities as well as homework completion.


• Providing a safe, healthy, and fun environment and acting as a positive role model for children in the program.


• Observing state guidelines, Healthy Kids Extended Day Program policies, and host school policies.


• Certain positions may also perform management functions such as accurate attendance records, registration, and staffing.

Requirements

Education and Experience:

• High School Diploma and/or 1 year of childcare experience preferred but not required

Qualifications:

• Candidates must successfully pass all required state background checks.


• Requires the ability to meet physical demands, including bending, stretching, lifting, and carrying up to 50 pounds, and actively engaging with energetic children.


• The ideal candidate demonstrates a positive, professional demeanor and strong interpersonal skills when working with children, families, and colleagues, along with a consistent record of reliability and punctuality.
