Job summary

Healthy Kids Programs is seeking a School-Age Childcare Assistant for the Before and After School Programs at Frelinghuysen Elementary School in Newton, NJ for the 2026-2027 school year. This part-time, non-exempt position offers morning and/or afternoon slots aligned with the school calendar.

Shifts run 7:30–8:30 am and 3:15–6:15 pm, with opportunities to work both. The role focuses on engaging activities, supervision, safety, and positive role modeling for kids ages 5–12.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required or preferred.
• 1 year of childcare experience preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate hands-on activities following the Healthy Kids Curriculum (fitness, STEAM, academic, art, and homework).
• Provide a safe, healthy, and fun environment and act as a positive role model for children in the program.
• Observe state guidelines, Healthy Kids Extended Day Program policies, and host school policies.
• Certain positions may also perform management functions such as attendance records, registration, and staffing.

Requirements

Education and Experience:

• High School Diploma and/or 1 year of childcare experience preferred but not required

Qualifications:

• Candidates must successfully pass all required state background checks.


• Requires the ability to meet physical demands, including bending, stretching, lifting, and carrying up to 50 pounds, and actively engaging with energetic children.


• The ideal candidate demonstrates a positive, professional demeanor and strong interpersonal skills when working with children, families, and colleagues, along with a consistent record of reliability and punctuality.
