Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist the Director of Health Services (DHS) in planning, developing, organizing, implementing, evaluating, and directing the nursing service department, including its programs and activities, in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines governing the Health Campus.
- Develop methods for coordinating nursing services with other resident services to ensure continuity of care.
- Participate in facility surveys (inspections) conducted by authorized government agencies as directed by the DHS or the Executive Director.
- Create and post the campus' four-week Master schedule following the Campus Hourly Scheduling policy.
- Adjust staffing as needed based on budget, census, calls-offs, and pre-planned leaves.
- Manage and support employee PTO requests, holiday rotations, and shift trades.
- Generate required postings such as BIPA, daily assignment sheets, and monthly schedules.
- Manage nursing hours (PPD) and staff ratios relative to census.
- Monitor overtime with the goal of reducing or eliminating it.
- Oversee Time and Attendance systems, including attendance points, buy-backs, and SPUs for cash and STARS.
- Anticipate staffing needs, recruit, and collaborate with Employee Services to minimize open positions.
- Maintain and monitor Preceptor needs.
- Utilize Smartlinx functionalities for posting and filling shifts, and employee communication.
- Meet with new employees to review schedules and onboarding needs.
- Assist with onboarding coordination and training classes.
- Adhere to scheduling standards, Smartlinx use, and best practices.
- Assist with Fit testing, COVID testing, Biometric screening, PPD, etc.
- Provide direct nursing care as necessary.
- Ensure complete and accurate resident documentation in MatrixCare.
- Order and stock supplies.
- Conduct shift rounds to review staffing levels.

Knowledge of:
- Governmental laws, regulations, and guidelines relevant to long-term care.
- Budgets and PPD sets.
- SmartLinx, ICIMS, and KeyStats systems (preferred).
- Regulatory compliance across responsibilities.
- Unencumbered C.N.A, QMA/KMA/Med Tech certification, or LPN/RN license in the state of employment.
