Job summary

BayCare Health System in St. Petersburg, FL is seeking a Scheduler dedicated to outstanding customer service within the Neurosurgery team.

You will coordinate patient appointments, collect demographic and insurance details, and ensure accurate scheduling across multiple locations. This full-time, first-shift role runs 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with some rotation and local travel within the BayCare network.

Qualifications

• 1 year of customer service experience or 1 year in healthcare.
• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Strong communication and scheduling skills preferred.

Responsibilities

• Address internal and external scheduling needs by collecting demographic, insurance, and procedure information.
• Accurately schedule procedures.
• Deliver complex clinical examination instructions.
• Document patient responses to clinical questions.
• Keep physicians and hospital offices current with scheduled procedures.
• Understand payer guidelines balancing authorization with appointment dates.
• Perform general clerical duties including phones, data entry, and communications.
• Be flexible and willing to rotate shifts.
• Travel within the BayCare Health System area using personal transportation.

The Scheduler is responsible for:

• Effectively and efficiently addresses the needs of both internal and external customers when scheduling patients by carefully collecting demographic, insurance, and procedure information.
• Accurately schedule procedures
• Deliver complex clinical examination instructions
• Document patient response to clinical questions
• Keep the patients physician and hospital offices current with information about their scheduled procedures
• Must be familiar with payer guidelines for balancing authorization requirements with scheduled appointment dates.
• Perform general clerical support that includes answering telephones, data entry, communication, and other assigned duties
• Must be flexible and willing to rotate shifts periodically
• Must be able to travel within the BayCare Health System area using personal transportation

Required Education:

• High School or Equivalent

Experience:

• Required 1 year customer service or
• 1 year healthcare
