Job summary

CDM Smith seeks an Automation and Controls Engineer to grow our automation services in the Dallas area. You will work on SCADA programming, OT networks, and instrumentation and controls, advancing your skills within our Automation practice.

The role requires strong programming, testing, and commissioning experience with multiple SCADA platforms and a willingness to travel regionally. This is a full-time, on-site position with growth opportunities.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering, or in Engineering Technology or related discipline.
EIT certification or FE exam within 18 months of hire or promotion.
5 years of related experience.

Responsibilities

Developing automation solutions with senior oversight.
Programming, testing, and commissioning SCADA systems (Rockwell, Schneider, Emerson).
Configuring SCADA servers, OITs, networks, and wireless links.
Developing SCADA reports using Dream Reports, XL Reporter or Hach WIMS.
Performing FATs and field inspections per contract requirements.
Creating basic to moderate instrumentation and control designs (P&IDs, architectures).
Preparing control system design reports (PDRs).
Working knowledge of OT cybersecurity solutions.
Reviewing shop drawings for control components and wiring diagrams.
Responding to RFIs under limited supervision.
Developing Operations & Maintenance manuals for designed systems.
Preparing automation budgets and construction cost estimates.
Preparing proposals and client presentations with supervision.
Traveling to project sites for meetings, troubleshooting, and start-up.
Performing other duties as required.
