Job summary

Pasco County BOCC is seeking a SCADA Technical Specialist to support water and wastewater operations. The role involves installing, calibrating, and maintaining analog/digital instrumentation and PLC systems, troubleshooting electrical circuits, and ensuring accurate SCADA readings across field facilities.

The candidate should have electronics/instrumentation training and experience, strong emphasis on safety, and the ability to work both indoors and outdoors at remote locations.

Qualifications

• Graduation with an Associate’s degree in electronics or related field and 1 year of experience, OR technical school with electronics/process instrumentation and 3 years, OR high school and 5 years in automation/instrumentation.

Responsibilities

• Supervises and trains less experienced technicians.
• Coordinates work with SCADA team and other groups.
• Installs and calibrates analog and digital instrumentation using tools and meters.
• Installs, programs, troubleshoots, or replaces PLC equipment.
• Uses test equipment and reads schematics/manuals.
• Tests low voltage circuits to locate faults.
• Disassembles, cleans, and replaces parts; reassembles equipment.
• Calibrates industrial instruments and data collection equipment.
• Coordinates with operators to ensure accurate readings on interfaces.
• Records calibrations, parts used, and maintains inventory.
• Prepares schematic drawings reflecting changes using CAD or similar tools.
