Jacobs is seeking a motivated SCADA Controls Engineering Intern for Summer 2027 within the Water Group. You will assist with SCADA/automation systems for water facilities and gain hands-on exposure alongside senior engineers in a collaborative consulting environment.

The role requires enrollment in an Electrical Engineering program, rising senior year, and coursework in digital and embedded systems. Travel to NYC is expected to support field work during the summer.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a degree seeking program for Electrical Engineering
• Rising senior with three years of collegiate coursework completed
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, C++, Python, MATLAB
• Completed coursework focused on Digital Logic Circuits, Embedded Systems, Real-Time Embedded Systems, Linear Systems and Digital Signal Processing
• 3.0+ GPA
• The availability to travel to NYC to support field work throughout the summer.

Responsibilities

• Support the design and development of SCADA and industrial automation systems for water and wastewater facilities.
• Assist with preparation of control system architecture diagrams, instrumentation layouts, control panel drawings, and communication network drawings.
• Support PLC and HMI configuration, testing, and documentation activities.
• Assist engineers with development of control narratives, I/O lists, sequence‑of‑operation documents, and functional specifications.
• Participate in reviews of electrical and controls designs to ensure compliance with project requirements and industry standards.
• Perform engineering calculations, data analysis, and field data verification as needed.
• Support FAT, SAT, and commissioning activities.
• Assist with troubleshooting control systems and communication networks under the guidance of senior engineers.
• Contribute to project documentation, technical reports, and design deliverables.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including process, mechanical, electrical, and civil engineers.
