Job summary

Anduril Industries is a defense technology company seeking a Controls Engineer to join its Automation team in Columbus, OH. You will design, commission, and upgrade control systems for high-rate production, write Siemens PLC code, and build SCADA apps in Ignition to provide plant floor visibility.

You’ll own the SCADA layer from PLC integration to production floor visibility, collaborating with cross-functional teams on troubleshooting and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
• 2+ years of experience in controls and automation in a production environment.
• Proficient in Siemens PLC programming (Ladder and Structured Text).
• Proficient in servo drive and VFD configuration, PID tuning, STO/SS, etc.
• Strong knowledge of ethernet based communication protocols (ProfiNET, ProfiSAFE, Ethernet IP).
• Proficient with electrical component selection and a solid foundation of wire sizing, circuit protection, and heat management in control cabinets.
• Experience developing SCADA applications in Ignition (Perspective, tag architecture, and historian).
• Experience with performing Risk Assessments and Controls Safety Design
• Proficient with pneumatic concepts and design
• Familiar with NFPA70e electrical safety practices
• U.S. citizenship is required pursuant to contractual obligations.

Responsibilities

• Design, commission, and upgrade control systems for production equipment
• Write and debug Siemens PLC code with an emphasis on generating code that is organized, structured, documented, maintainable, and reusable for high-volume manufacturing applications
• Follow internal standards for control systems architectures, regulatory compliance, and safety buyoffs
• Integrate internal and external FactoryOS software into automation equipment and production lines
• Build and maintain SCADA applications in Ignition, including tag architecture, Perspective screens, alarming, and historian configuration
• Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for automation failures, ensuring rapid resolution and long-term reliability
• Install, configure, and tune servo drives / VFDs
• Partner with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot equipment issues, reduce downtime, and drive continuous improvement initiatives
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, which requires regular interaction with production and manufacturing stakeholders and frequently working directly on the production floor
